Our last guild meeting was fantastic! We were visited by Nancy Bush and treated to a history of the Estonia tradition of knitting. She brought all the wonderful patterns she has knitted for she book Knitted Lace of Estonia . She has visited this country about 13 times and bring gloves, socks, and shawls to America to sell for the Estonian knittting ladies. It is a wonderful book with beautiful patterns and some of the history of Estonia. It is a very special thing she has done to help save the traditions of Estonia. Thank you, Nancy, for spending time with us.

To Heck with Spring Cleaning.

Fall cleaning can be every bit as good as Spring cleaning. Mumsy gets these brilliant ideas and they turn into alot of work but they can be fun, too. It started with the declaration "Yarn is our life.", well, let your mind chew on that for a minute. Although, it sounds shallow and trite, it is the beginning of whole new way of thinking. If, "Yarn is our life.", then we need to make room for it and get rid of the things that we do not have need. This means, new containers and boxing this up. Accidently, Mumsy came home with clear containers. Brilliant, because it is so much easier to know what is inside without having to label the containers or open it. Anywho, we spent saturday boxing the un-needed and re-boxing the things we use in clear boxes. We have only dipped our toes in the pool of reorganization. But, we look forward to reaching the other side.

Here is little Sweet Pea checking out the spinning wheel. Good Girl!! She is well on her way to becoming a fiber artist. Not to be out done, Little Man has a turn. I think my odds are pretty good that one will follow in Nana's fiber footsteps. Oh, and just wait until you see their Halloween costumes. Their mom is a genius!!

Catching my breath

I've been in a strange funk the last month, obviously noted by my lack of blogging. My father passed away mid-September. Although not unexpected, the impact of how it affected me was a surprise. I have not been close to him, at all the last 5 years. Families are a bit complicated sometimes and this part of the family has had some trials. My wish being to not further complicate things within the family, I chose to withdraw and give them space to be themselves and allow myself the same gift. I miss my father and miss what we could have had together, if only thing were different. Love you Pop. On a much more fun issue, relating to fiber arts... Great Basin Fiber Arts Fair was a BLAST!!! Yes, it was very, very, very wet on Saturday, but our turn-out was not disappointing. We huddled in our tents and ran between raindrops and tried to stay warm. A bunch of Ravelry folks showed up and we were able to get button at the Three Wishes tent. It was really fun to put faces with the names. One ...
